Founded in 2008 by a group of enthusiasts led by local composer/conductor, Graham Marshall, the Rochdale Light Orchestra provides local musicians with the opportunity to meet regularly to rehearse and perform light-hearted music of all kinds.
Rehearsals take place on Mondays from 7.30 to 9.30pm in the relaxed atmosphere of the community rooms of St. Martin's Church, Vicarage Road North, Castleton, Rochdale.
We are an equal opportunities organisation. Players of all ages are welcome to join us. There are no auditions, but it is expected that members will have reached Grade 5 or its equivalent in their particular instrument.
The current repertory includes music by Handel, Jerome Kern, Gounod, Delius, Gershwin, John Williams, Ernest Tomlinson, E.J.Moeran, Elgar, Pryor .............. all sorts of good music by the best composers.
